So what is
Retire With Style

ABOUT?

Let’s just say we’re taking the “tired” out of “retired” and making finance fun.

Helping you help yourself.

Retirement doesn’t come with a manual—but if it did, we’d probably try to turn it into a podcast. Retire With Style is where we (Wade and Alex) break down the complex world of retirement planning and make it, dare we say… kind of fun? Whether you’re five years from retirement, five years in, or just retirement-curious, we’re here to help you understand what really matters—backed by research, real-world experience, and the occasional terrible pun. With decades of combined expertise and tools like the RISA® in our back pocket, we’re not just talking about retirement—we’re helping to shape the way it’s done. Come for the insights, stay for the dad jokes.

Spreadsheet Sensei

Hi, I’m Wade—co-host of Retire With Style, and apparently the “serious one,” according to Alex. (I like to think of it more as classically academic, but I’ll let you be the judge.)

I’ve spent most of my career diving deep into the research behind retirement planning—earning a PhD in economics from Princeton, publishing over 60 peer-reviewed articles, and writing a few books along the way. I’m a Principal at McLean Asset Management, founder of Retirement Researcher, and also a professor at the American College of Financial Services. I used to run the RICP® program there, which gave me a front-row seat to the evolving world of retirement income planning.

Alex and I teamed up to create the RISA®—a retirement income personality tool that helps people understand the strategy that fits them best. He brings the psychology chops, I bring the spreadsheets. It works.

Whether through this podcast, my writing, or our work at McLean, I’m here to help you make sense of retirement planning… with just enough banter to keep Alex in check.

Hi, I’m Alex and welcome to our site. I know you will find it valuable, but first – I’m sure you want to know, who am I to be running this?

That’s a great question so here goes…. I graduated from George Washington University with a doctorate in Psychology. It is here where I learned the foundation of what would set me on my professional journey. Although I’ve published various peer-reviewed articles (though not nearly as many as that Wade guy) on investing and retirement income planning, I’m managing Principal and Chief Investment Officer of McLean Asset Management. In addition, along with Wade, I co-founded the RISA®️; the industry’s first psychologically backed retirement income assessment tool. Oh, and I’m co-host of this podcast!
